HOW DID THE PROJECT START?

In 2012 the Worcester – Birmingham and Droitwich Canals Society achieved ‘Self Supervising Status’ as a volunteer Work Group.

David Viner the Heritage Advisor for the Canal and River Trust suggested that the society adopt the kilns as a heritage project.

The society had operated working parties in previous years but these were as one off events.

The project started in February 2013 under David’s supervision and with a proposed strategy of work.
